Actor and entrepreneur Roberto Palazuelos recounted his first experience working abroad, a period when he worked as a dishwasher in London while wearing a Rolex watch given to him by his father. This story began after he dropped out of law school in Mexico and went to seek opportunities in the world of art, against his father's wishes. In an interview on the 'Entre amigos con Mancera' podcast, Palazuelos explained that his arrival in England was marked by expectations that did not match the reality of the working life he found. 'I said, 'No, man, I want to be an artist and I don't want to study law','' he recalled, explaining how he decided to pursue his youthful dream. After traveling to London at the invitation of 'Burro' Van Rankin, who offered him lodging and said there were job opportunities, Palazuelos discovered that the conditions were different from what was promised. In the restaurant's basement, where he was hired to wash dishes, his Rolex watch stood out in contrast to his surroundings. 'Oh, Rolex, Rolex,' his colleagues would say. This is how Palazuelos got the nickname 'Rolex'. Although the income was meager and barely covered basic expenses, the job as a dishwasher eventually paid off. 'I started dressing better, they started giving me tips, and things started going very well for me,' he noted. The new bar schedule also allowed him to reorganize his routine and combine work with his studies. It was in this role that Palazuelos was able to fund part of his training at the Central School of Speech and Drama, marking a significant step towards his professional goal. He stayed in London for about 11 months, living in a small apartment and using the metro for daily transportation.
